This cruise takes in the stunning backdrop of the rainfed first gorge which is the longest gorge in the 13 gorge system. Enjoy small group touring where we have a maximum of 15 guests per tour. This makes for a more intimate and attentive tour.

Tour guests will discover first hand knowledge of the region and cultural traditions unique to these people.

Learn about the geology and geography of the gorge from the river guides. A second cultural guide will be on board to explain the local cultural history providing a unique insight into what Jawoyn life was like in the past. Discover the traditional names and uses for trees and plants distinct to this region. Find out how the Jawoyn have great respect for country and still practice many of their cultural traditions.

This relaxed pace cruise stops at the end of the first gorge to reveal Rock Art adorning the gorge cliff faces. A cultural interpretation of the Rock Art site reflects on the ingenuity and knowledge that represents thousands of years of learning and observation. Be prepared to hear stories of ancient traditions and sacred sites. See important artefacts including didgeridoos, painting and woven baskets. Interactive hands on opportunities such as spear throwing will ensure lasting memories. The cultural content you receive will depend on the gender of the guide. For example, male guides are not permitted to talk about basket weaving.

A level of mobility will be required to enable walks to the rock art site and the spectacular second gorge. Swimming is optional and depending on the time of year you might have to cross to the second gorge to swim in the abundant rock holes.
