What to expect

Immerse yourself in the art and culture of Australia's First Nations with this unique experience at QAGOMA that will inform, inspire and connect.

Commencing with a Welcome to Country and refreshments on arrival, you will enjoy a guided tour of QAGOMA's Indigenous Australian Art Collection. You will also have the chance to express your own creativity with an interactive, hands-on activity led by a local Indigenous artist who will share traditional insights through your art journey.

The evening includes inspired culinary delights from Koori Chef Chris Jordan of Three Little Birds in collaboration with QAGOMA's Head Chef. Chris, a passionate advocate for native Australian ingredients, will share details of the delicious refreshments and canapés being enjoyed throughout the event.

This First Artists experience ensures participants enjoy a creative immersion like no other, and includes:

  • Arrival Drinks and Welcome to Country
  • Tour of the latest Indigenous Australian Art Collection exhibition
  • Immersive creative activity accompanied by delicious canapés

This experience requires a minimum group booking for 30 people (maximum group size 50 people).

The experience is available throughout the year from Monday through to Friday (with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Queensland Public Holidays)

  • Cancellation Policy: Within 30 days and up to 8 days prior to booking date, a 50% cancellation fee applies | Cancelled within 7 days of booking – 100% of total cost payable
  • All visitors must follow QAGOMA’s Conditions of Entry.

Blaklash Creative is a design consultancy specialising in First Nations art and design. Working in partnership with artists, designers and creatives, Blaklash produces community-celebrated experiences that express Indigenous perspectives through artistic process, practice and presentation.

QAGOMA is located riverside in Brisbane across two architecturally acclaimed buildings in the Queensland Cultural Centre, and is a short walk from the city and adjacent to South Bank. Glimpses of Brisbane anchor you to our subtropical city from inside each gallery.
