Immerse your senses in the culture and traditions of the Wadandi and Bibbulman people with Josh “Koomal” Whiteland as your guide of the Ngilgi Cave in the Margaret River region of Western Australia.
Immerse all 5 senses in this full 3 hour tour. Enjoy a guided bushwalk with Josh to forage for seasonal native bush foods and medicines and discover their cultural uses. Learn about the six Noongar seasons and how this influences what is hunted and gathered. Taste traditional foods and flavours around the campfire which, depending on the season, could include kangaroo, emu, quandong, emu plum and salt bush. Venture deep into Ngilgi Cave for a uniquely memorable didgeridoo cave experience, providing a deep connection and lasting memories.

What to expect
Journey into Ngilgi Cave for Josh’s authentic storytelling of the Dreaming and a unique didgeridoo experience, this is the only place you’ll ever hear the ancient instrument through the awesome acoustics inside a cave.
Learn about the six Noongar seasons and how they influence what is hunted and gathered. Discover the art of traditional fire lighting and tool making, as Wadandi custodian Josh demonstrates how to create a spark by rubbing two sticks together and explains how his ancestors created the artifacts you can touch and feel.
Josh conveys stories of the Dreaming spirits that relate to his traditional area, and takes visitors deep into Ngilgi Cave for a uniquely memorable didgeridoo cave experience, providing a deep connection and lasting memories. Be moved by the skill and intensity of Josh’s didgeridoo playing and fire-making, discover bush medicine plants and Dreaming spirits that have enriched the lives of Wadandi people since time began.
Finally, taste traditional foods and flavours around Josh’s campfire with a gourmet BBQ lunch. Depending on the season, these could include kangaroo, emu, quandong, emu plum and salt bush.

Difficulty:
Please be aware that whilst the walking tracks are graded as easy, there are some sections that are sandy and/or a little rocky which can be challenging for some prams and/or mobility aids.

Transport to and from Ngilgi Cave is not included in pricing and is by own arrangement.
Bus bays, car parking and toilet facilities are available at pick up and drop off point at Ngilgi Cave

Tours depart from the front of the Ngilgi Cave ticket office, 76 Yallingup Caves Rd, Yallingup WA. Please arrive 10 mins prior to departure time.

Koomal Dreaming
Tourism award winning Koomal Dreaming is owned and operated by Wandandi man Josh Whiteland. The Wadandi people ‘forest people by the sea’ live within the ‘Cape to Cape’ region in the South West of WA.
“Koomal” meaning brushtail possum, is the traditional name and totem for Josh chosen for him by his Wadandi elders. Born in Busselton, WA.
Josh grew up surrounded by family, culture and a deep understanding of connection to country. Josh provides leadership programs for Aboriginal youth at risk and disengaged students and believes that prevention is better than a cure and through education you can make a difference.
Josh also enjoys sharing this knowledge and passion for food with visitors and chefs from around the world which has led to opportunities to work with leaders in this field in film, on location and at events.
Passionate, learned and spiritually aware, Josh has a personal commitment to sharing his knowledge of his culture and lore with visitors. It is for this reason he created ‘Koomal Dreaming’ in 2007 so that he could communicate his connection with his land and his people with guests from Australia and around the world.
