Take a night walk with your Nyungar guide at Elizabeth Quay, a picturesque new waterfront precinct that connects central Perth with the Swan River. Let our Aboriginal guide take you back to the Dreamtime and be delighted by the visual attractions of the Quay, Swan River and the city skyline of Perth.

Dreaming in the Quay is about interacting with your local Aboriginal guide and opening your mind by experiencing traditional Dreamtime stories. You will get to experience the Quay in the early evening surrounded by the rays of fluorescent lights from Perth city creating a beautiful visual atmosphere. Our guide will talk about past and present Nyungar history and give a true historical understanding of the Nyungar people of the Swan River.

What to expect

Tour of Elizabeth Quay will look at this beautiful landmark with a lot of depth, there will be a Dreamtime story along with details about the Wadjuk tribe and the ancient knowledge of the region.

Located at Elizabeth Quay on the Swan River join your guide and learn about mixed elements, cultural understanding and sensitivity, and be delighted by the visual attractions of the Quay.

Your guide will share a Dreamtime story of the Maali otherwise known as the black swan, then provide a talk about the Wadjuk tribe and explain the exclusion zone, stolen generation and assimilation act.

Hear about the local native flora and fauna and learn about the local Nyungar people’s diet, the seasons, family structures, and neighbouring tribes.

Your guide will meet you at the Spanda Statue (white rings) located at The Landing, Elizabeth Quay, Perth. Please arrive 10 mins prior to departure time

Djurandi Dreaming is owned and operated by Wadjuk man Justin Martin, a qualified tour guide and Aboriginal art specialist. Justin’s traditional lands stretches across Perth metropolitan region and a large part of the midwest of Western Australia making him part of the Nyungar and Yamatji Nations.

Justin and his family started Djurandi Dreaming in 2017 aiming to deliver an exciting cultural experience to the local people of Perth and visitors to Western Australia. The family has a special connection to the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River), being direct descendants to some of the last known survivors of the Swan River Settlement.

Justin’s tours and artworks are based around history, facts and creation stories that are hundreds of years old. The stories and dot paintings are passed down from generation to generation.

Djurandi Dreaming is focused on positively educating and showcasing Aboriginal culture in Western Australia while conserving culture, language and Country.
